About the Designer
Hello, I’m Karla Urrutia.
Design began as a personal discovery—a way to transform everyday surroundings into meaningful experiences.
In 2020, during a time of uncertainty, my partner and I found inspiration in renovating our home one space at a time. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a passion, revealing the influence thoughtful design can have on how we feel, connect, and experience our environments. That experience sparked my journey into interior design and ultimately inspired the creation of
Studio Thirteen.
Today, I am pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD), with a focus on sustainable design. My education has strengthened my belief that beautiful spaces should be intentional in the way they support people, place, and the environment.
Inspired by travel, culture, and human connection, I approach each project as an opportunity to reflect the stories, people, and places that shape it. My work focuses on hospitality and residential environments where design becomes a bridge between beauty, function, and experience.
Design Philosophy
Through Studio Thirteen, I explore the intersection of interior design, art, color, and creative expression, bringing a thoughtful and holistic perspective to the spaces we inhabit.
My approach is rooted in a holistic and sustainable perspective, exploring the relationship between materiality, light, texture, and atmosphere. I believe the most meaningful interiors are shaped by their context, the people who inhabit them, and the moments they hold.
Through thoughtful design, I strive to create environments that feel intentional, immersive, and connected. Studio Thirteen brings together curiosity, craftsmanship, and a respect for the natural and built environment to create spaces with lasting meaning.
